Kenney Wants to Purge Extremist from UCP? Why Not?

I am “amused” by the suggested efforts of Jason Kenney to relieve himself from the taint of how attractive his UCP is to “extremists views.” He wants “looking into the dark corners of the internet into some of these hate sites” to purge the Nazi, Neo-Nazi and White Supremacists types from his party membership roles.

Cleaning Up the UCP?

The  list of UCP Candidates who have been forced to withdraw or have their nominations or have be cancelled for various extremest views is long and growing.  They were found out on Facebook and Twitter, Reddit and maybe even Tumblr or the Ashley Madison websites.  There is no need to go in the dark corners of hate-based websites to find the rank (sic) and defiled members in the UCP. Kenney admits it’s “not possible to screen social media accounts of all party members, noting some use pseudonyms.”  The UCP claims over 130,000 members, presumably a combination of old PC, WRP and some Alberta Federal CPC types going back many years would make up that list. There are lots of good people in the UCP. I know many of them.  But there are way to many ways to find the “odd bad apple” members who are hateful, bigoted, racist, xenophobic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, homophobic and misogynistic…just to name a few character flaws.  Rooting them out would be a good idea.  What a great Big Data project for the party to undertake.  So thoroughly “modern.”

Time for a Truth Squad to Get Donors?

squeezing donors I would encourage Mr. Kenney to set up a Truth Squad of young Conservative hackers and let them go through all those 130,000 memberships.  Develop an algorithm to go into every UCP member’s social media accounts and postings on accounts of others. See what they have said, done or supported in the past that is not aligned with mainstream Alberta values.  You would only have to screen about 1200 a day to clean up the Party before the next election, presuming it is in late May and not March. The UCP Big Brother Data project would be a great fundraising opportunity too.  For every character flaw found in a member, rather than being expelled from the UCP, they could be sold Indulgences to purge them of their reprehensible beliefs. It has worked in the Catholic Church for years. The money could be put in a Political Action Committee to run more negative and misleading TV attack ads on the NDP.  They could also help reinforce the extremist {I mean “core”} policy positions of the UCP.  That way the Reprehensibles would see their Indulgences money being put to good use.

Privacy? Cons Don’t Need no Stinking Privacy.

It would be a great way for the UCP to update and refresh its database and put people on various “lists” for further observation and visitation by the Truth Squad as the case may be…necessary. Members would be told not to worry about any breaches of privacy.  If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.  So logical, who could object? Transparency, Openness, Integrity and Accountability are values Albertans consider as very important when deciding who to vote for.  The UCP Big Brother Data Project would align perfectly with all those values too.  WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
